We are large enough to offer our members a full range of consumer financial services and small enough to still give personal attention and friendly service.

Resources Credit Union was established in 1961. Resources Credit Union is a democratic co-operative which aims to provide a better financial alternative for all our members. We recognise the responsibility we have to our members and our aim is to always act in your best interests. We are proud to provide safe, secure and convenient financial services.

While Credit Unions have changed over the years, Resources' philosophy hasn't. Our dealings with our members are based on honesty and integrity. We still operate on the old fashioned principle of people helping people.

The value we place on our members is reflected in the way we treat them. We all look forward to finding more satisfying solutions to your financial needs.

Serving members since 1961

The foundation meeting of the Irrigation Commission Credit Union was called in May 1961, by the Recreation Club of the Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission, at which seven Commission staff were nominated as Directors.

In 1962 when the Soil Conservation Service was included in our Bond, membership was 227, deposits $27,000, and loans $37,782. A year later country staff were admitted and our very successful Local Committees were set up. The Credit Union continued to grow and implement new services. The State Pollution Control Commission, family members and continuing members were included in the early 70's. Since the early 80's several credit unions have merged with Resources - Labind (Consumer Affairs and Industrial Relations), Housing Commission, Mater Hospital, Burroughs, Finley, Forestview and CDH Staff Credit Unions.

In 1983, with savings approaching $14 million and loans of $11.5 million, the Rules were changed to allow the Credit Union to extend the membership to people either living or working in the lower North Shore. Shortly after this, the name was changed to Resources Credit Union to reflect both its industrial and community base.

Resources is now a successful, medium-sized Credit Union with assets in excess of $89 million, very solid reserves and over 10,000 members.
