73% of Resources Members don't pay Monthly Transaction Fees*

Because Resources is a cooperative where members are equal shareholders, we try to share the benefits and costs fairly amongst all members. We don’t have to make big profits to pay dividends to external shareholders.

Your Credit Union believes its transaction charges are fair. Most members who support us with their business will be able to make a reasonable level of transactions per month for little or no charges. Our aim is to reduce or recoup transaction costs, so that our interest rates to borrowers and savers remain competitive.

How to Save on Transaction Charges

1. Transfer any savings, investments and loans you have at other financial institutions to Resources, so as to earn "rebates” on your transaction charges.

2. Make a plan to reduce the number of transactions you make each month. It will soon pay off.

3. Use those transactions which cost you and your credit union the least (see information in panels).

4. Make fewer, but larger cash withdrawals.
Credit Union Cash Withdrawal Limit - via ATMs and branches is $1,000 per day (EFTPOS $300 per day). Note: ATM owners and EFTPOS merchants may impose lower limits.

5. Use BPAY or member cheques to pay bills, instead of credit union counter cheques.

6. Set up direct debit authorities to pay regular bills.

7. Use our Visa Card (choose CR & signature) to pay for purchases and bills over-the-phone or by mail.

8. When using your Visa card to make a purchase through EFTPOS select "Credit" (ie. do not use your PIN) and sign the merchants docket. This is processed as a free Visa transaction.

9. Withdraw cash via EFTPOS (instead of using ATMs or branches) at the same time as making a purchase (this counts as one transaction instead of two).

10.Withdrawals of cash only (ie. no simultaneous purchase) via EFTPOS cost the same as an ATM transaction. So beware of stand-alone machines in clubs, hotels, etc. advertised as EFTPOS facilities.

11.Work out the cash you need for a day’s shopping, and take enough out at the first EFTPOS outlet to pay cash for your remaining purchases, rather than doing an EFTPOS transaction for each.

Remember - if you plan correctly you may avoid fees or at least reduce them significantly.
